Vadala Part of 44th Annual WIU Jazz Festival

MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University will host its 44th annual Jazz Festival Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 16-18 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication Recital Hall.

The festival's main event will be a concert Friday, Feb. 17 by the WIU Jazz Band, the WIU Jazz Studio Orchestra (JSO) and guest saxophonist Chris Vadala. He travels worldwide, performing with and conducting students and professional jazz ensembles, symphonic bands and orchestra.

Vadala has performed with jazz greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, B.B. King, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole and Herbie Hancock. His career has been highlighted as a standout woodwind artist with the internationally recognized Chuck Mangione Quartet.

Tickets are available at the Hainline Theatre Box Office in Browne Hall for $15 for the public, $10 for senior citizens and $7 for youth. WIU students will be admitted free with valid student identification.

The performance of WIU's JSO and jazz band are sponsored by WIU Jazz and the WIU College of Fine Arts and Communication.
