The Western Illinois University Department of English To Host The Leland Essay Contest

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of English is hosting the Leland Essay Contest. The deadline for essay submissions is Friday, Feb. 10 in Simpkins Hall, room 129.

Students who have successfully taken English 100, 180 or 280 in the year 2016 (Spring, Summer, and Fall) may participate in the contest. To participate, the student must submit an essay of their choice from any of those courses following the specified rules. The top three finalists from each course will win a cash prize.

The cash prizes are for first, second and third place finishers. The first place winner receives $150, second place receives $100 and third place receives $50. Winning entries from each course level also get published in "Western Voices."
