MACOMB, IL – High school senior Samantha McJunkin, of Prospect Heights (IL), has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

McJunkin hopes to major in criminal psychology.

"I selected Western because of how good the criminology aspect of it is," said McJunkin. "A student should consider Western because it has a friendly environment and awesome academic opportunities."

In high school, McJunkin participated in Relay for Life and badminton, as well as working at an animal hospital for more than three years.
