MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- On March 1, snap a selfie and tag #WIUMiracleJeansDay to show your support for the Western Illinois University Dance Marathon's Miracle Jeans Day fundraiser.

Proceeds from the event go to St. Louis-area Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Approval has been granted for WIU employees in all departments to participate in the special "wear jeans day," if they choose. For a minimum donation of $5, individuals can put their professional attire aside to wear jeans to work.

"Even if jeans are part of your everyday wear, a $5 donation for the cause is still most welcome -- and appreciated -- and will help us reach our $1,000 goal for the March 1 event," added Dance Marathon (DM) President Hayley Salata.

The WIU DM, which is a recognized student organization, has a series of yearlong fundraisers taking place for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, the organization's designated charity. The fundraising events culminate April 1 with a 12-hour Dance Marathon on campus, which honors the 12-hour shifts of doctors and nurses, as well as children who are unable to stand.

The $5 jeans donation, which is due by Friday, Feb. 24, may be made online at http://tinyurl.com/WIUDMMJD (click on "Support Me") or by cash or check (payable to WIU Dance Marathon), sent to Nick Katz, associate director of Student Activities and WIU DM adviser, c/o the Office of Student Activities (University Union). DM executive board members will visit offices Feb. 27 and Feb. 28 to pass out participation stickers for the March 1 event.

Western's Dance Marathon is entering its fourth year on the WIU campus, with this year's goal set at $100,000. All donations are welcome, and may be made by visiting tinyurl.com/wiudm17 or emailing dancemarathon@wiu.edu. Last year's event raised $70,800.
