MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Disability Resource Center (DRC) will host its annual Disability Culture Day from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 in the University Union Capitol Room.

The event, open to the campus community, is an interactive program that teaches about the intersection of disability and pop culture and highlight the connection to inclusiveness on campus. Through videos and discussions, participants will learn how disability is often represented in pop culture and how to think critically about the representations.

The goal of the event is for participants to reflect on and put into action what they learn.

The event is sponsored by the WIU DRC and the departments of English; sociology and recreation, park and tourism administration (RPTA).

For additional information about the event, contact DRC Learning Specialist Gretchen Steil Weiss at GE-Steil@wiu.edu.
