MACOMB, IL – University Libraries at Western Illinois University will host a series of Wikipedia editathons during the week of March 27-March 31. The discussions will be held from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, March 29 and noon-5 p.m. Thursday, March 30. All three presentations will be held in the Malpass Library Garden Lounge.
The discussions are to celebrate both Open Education Week and Women's History Month. During the editathons, participants can use personal or library supplied computers to make edits to Wikipedia, creating or improving articles about women and the gender gap.
Participants have the opportunity to receive guidance from librarians in choosing sources, identifying improvements to make to articles and technical help with using Wikipedia.
Light refreshments will be available during the editathons.
