MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University College of Fine Arts and Communication's Department of Theatre and Dance will unveil improved Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations for individuals using wheelchairs or needing assistance with a hearing impairment at the mainstage production of "Peter and the StarCatcher."

The show at will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, April 5-8 in Hainline Theatre and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9.

Twelve seats in the first two rows of the theatre have been converted to wheelchair-accessible seating. Stage managers are trained to convert a seat into an empty spot for a wheelchair within minutes.

Patrons should indicate the need for a wheelchair accessible spot when they buy an online ticket, or tell the ticketing agent if they purchase their seats over the phone or at the door. The new wheelchair seating option will provide a more comfortable option, with a premium view of the stage.

For individuals who require assistance for a hearing impairment, the department will offer the Enersound T500 25-person assisted listening system. This is a radio-frequency (RF) system that allows all sound sources to be sent from the mixing console to the listening systems.

Each listening device comes with two earphones, volume control and a lanyard if a person would like to be hands-free. The devices are available at the box office and can be reserved by leaving a driver's license, or other form of ID, as a security deposit when they pick up the device. ID's will be returned following the show, once the device is given back to the box office.

Upcoming mainstage performances for the 2017-2018 season can be found at wiu.edu/cofac/theatre/ut1718.php.
