Veterans Resource Fair planned for April 22

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University Veterans Resource Center, the YMCA of McDonough County Checkpoint Veterans Group, American Legion Post 6 and VFW Post 1921 are collaborating to host a Veterans Resource Fair from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Illinois National Guard Armory, 135 W. Grant St., in Macomb.

This rare event will provide an opportunity for veterans throughout the area to gain valuable information about available services, programs and resources. Professionals will be available to speak individually with veterans and service members about healthcare, disability, education, employment and other areas.

Specialists from the Iowa City VA Health Care system, Illinois Department of Veteran's Affairs, Veterans Assistance Commission of McDonough County, the Center for Military /Academic Transition and Health and McDonough District Hospital's (MDH) Behavioral Health Services will be on hand to share information about services provided locally and regionally.

Representatives for U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth, U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood and Illinois Senator Jil Tracy will be prepared to field issues or concerns as they continue work toward addressing the needs of all veterans and family members from their respective districts.

Also providing information at the fair will be the Peoria Honor Flight, Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency Victim Services Program, MDH Hospice, Buchanan Center for the Arts, Illinois Department of Employment Security Disabled Veterans Outreach Program and many more.
