Soendergaard and White win CITR Research Awards at Western

MACOMB, IL – The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research at Western Illinois University has released the winners of its Faculty Research and Creative Activities Awards, held April 12 in the University Union.

Current full-time faculty were invited to submit proposals in two research categories, and the top three proposals in each category were invited to present.

This year's winners include:

Research Development Activities:

"Inhibition of Nonsense-Mediate mRNA Decay (NMD) for Detection of Novel Ovarian Cancer Biomarkers" – WIU Assistant Professor of Chemistry Mette Soendergaard.


Professional Research and Creative Activities:

"Creative Responses About the College Experiences of Students with Disabilities" – WIU Assistant Professor of English Alisha White.

White has been studying the experiences of students with disabilities at WIU.


Soendergaard and White were each awarded a $500 line item expenditure to further their research.
