MOLINE, IL -- Audrey Adamson, Western Illinois University-Quad Cities assistant director of student services, has been recognized by the ACPA (College Student Educators International) Commission for Commuter Students and Adult Learners with an award for Outstanding Achievement by an Experienced Student Affairs Professional.

Adamson, who oversees career development and disability resources on the WIU-QC campus, was recognized at the ACPA Annual Convention in Columbus, OH, during a March 27 awards ceremony. ACPA is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C.

In her position at WIU-QC, Adamson serves as chair of the Higher Learning Commission Persistence and Completion Academy QC Team, is a member of the Commencement Planning Team and will begin a term as president of Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) in May. Before beginning her position at WIU in July 2012, Adamson worked in student affairs at Augustana College, Rock Island.

"It's always a wonderful feeling to be recognized by your peers," said Adamson. "This award was decided on by higher education professionals who work with a similar population of students to those we serve at WIU-QC -- commuters and adult learners. It means a lot to me, because they know that this is a unique population to reach and to provide accessible services for. This commission within ACPA is a wonderful resource for sharing ideas and best practices, as well as developing strong colleague relationships."
