Services Set for McGruder-Whiting

MACOMB, IL -- Memorial services for longtime Western Illinois University food services employee Beth A. McGruder-Whiting, 63, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25 at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb. McGruder-Whiting passed away at May 21 in Macomb.

McGruder-Whiting worked for the food services at WIU for 35 years, until her retirement in 2014. She was a supervisor for many years, including Higgins Hall and Rams Camp, and she also served as a cashier in the residence halls and University Union. When the new Thompson Dining Center opened, McGruder-Whiting was the morning cashier and Barista, greeting many students as they began their day on campus. She trained numerous Sodexo employees over the years and was always a positive team player.

She is survived by her mother, Alma Frakes of Macomb; children, Kalib McGruder, Jason McGruder, and Janell McGruder all of Macomb; five grandchildren; one brother; and one sister.
