Macomb Independence Day Celebration July 3 at WIU

MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University and the City of Macomb will present a variety of entertainment options and a fireworks display as part of the annual Independence Day, scheduled for Monday, July 3 in Q-Lot at WIU.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and events begin at 6 p.m., culminating with the annual fireworks display at approximately 9:30 p.m.

This year's entertainment includes performances by the Macomb Municipal Band, from 6-7 p.m.; presentation of the colors at 6:15 p.m. and Bryce Dexter and the King Graffiti Band form 7:30-9:30 p.m.

The entertainment stage will be set up in the southwest corner of Q-Lot, and food vendors will be set up on the south side of the lot.

In case of rain, the fireworks show will be held at approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4.

"This year's celebration has been moved to July 3, and we hope the atmosphere created will be one of a united community and of celebration," said Macomb Mayor Mike Inman. "We are grateful for the partnership we have with WIU and for the use of its facilities."
