MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University senior agriculture education major Dusti Irwin, of Rushville, IL, is one of 22 students nationwide to win a $1,500 National Association of Agricultural Educators Scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded to students who are majoring in agricultural education and who will be completing their student teaching during an upcoming semester.

Irwin will student teach this semester in the Eastland High School class of Cindy Feltmeyer, a 2009 WIU graduate.

"The support provided by the community of agriculture education professionals, that I have the honor to become a member of, made this scholarship possible," said Irwin. "I am especially grateful for the help of Dr. Andy Baker (director/professor of ag education at WIU School of Agriculture), Cindy Feltmeyer (agriculture teacher/FFA advisor at Eastland High School) and Amy Lucie (agriculture teacher/FFA advisor at Unity High School). These three individuals went above and beyond to ensure I had access to the scholarship application and it was accurately completed with quality letters of recommendation and other supplemental materials."

The scholarship is sponsored by Growth Energy, National Geographic Learning and Cengage Learning.
