Family Day at WIU Oct. 14

MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University has planned a weekend full of activities as part of the school's annual Family Day celebration, Saturday, Oct. 14.

Family Day at WIU is a chance for students and their relatives to get involved in a variety of campus activities. Events planned as part of this year's event include:

Saturday, Oct. 14
• Fifth annual Fallen Soldiers 5K Run/Walk
, 8:30 a.m., participants receive finisher medals and technical t-shirts if pre-registered. Registration is $35 for the public and $20 for WIU students. For more information, visit wiu.edu/vpas/wellness/event.php?id=563.
Harry Mussatto Golf Course: Eighteen holes, fees, cart and use of the range is $20 each for WIU students and siblings and $25 for parents. Call (309) 298-3676 to sign up for a tee time.

Leatherneck Game Day Tailgating, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., southwest corner of Q-Lot. A cookout by Sodexo will be served from noon-2 p.m. in the grassy area near the Rec Center. The cookout, for $5 per person, includes a hotdog or hamburger/cheeseburger or veggie burger, chips, cookie and water or soda. Spots are first-come, first served. Family Day t-shirts will be available from noon-2 p.m. for $10 each in front of the Rec Center.

Leatherneck football vs. Missouri State, 3 p.m., Hanson Field. Tickets are available in advance at goleathernecks.com or by calling the ticket office at (309) 298-1190. 

Sunday, Oct. 15
• Brunch in the Halls
– Thompson or Corbin/Olson dining centers, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., cash and student cards only. Sodexo Campus Services will provide an a la carte Sunday brunch.
