MOLINE, IL - Western Illinois University-Quad Cities' Disability Resource Center will offer a screening of the documentary "Cinemability" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 on the WIU-QC campus, 3300 River Drive, Moline, in Riverfront Hall Room 103.

A Q&A session via Skype with filmmaker Jenni Gold will be held after the screening.

According to cinemability.com, the movie examines portrayals of disability in film and TV and their impact on society by interviewing filmmakers, studio executives, film historians, and celebrities.

Audrey Adamson, WIU-QC assistant director of Student Services, Career Development and Disability Resources, noted that the film is captioned and that an interpreter will be present for the Q&A session.

"Offering this screening is an opportunity to bring awareness of how disability has been and is portrayed in entertainment, and hopefully that will help viewers reflect on how this impacts our interactions with individuals with disabilities in everyday life," Adamson said.

The film is produced and directed by Gold, who has muscular dystrophy and has used a wheelchair since the age of seven.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Adamson at 309-762-3999 ext. 62573 or anw-adamson@wiu.edu.
