Lotz Named Human Resources Director

MACOMB, IL – Cynthia Lotz, interim director of human resources at Western Illinois University, has been named the director, effective Jan. 1.

Lotz has served as interim director of human resources at WIU since August 2017. Previously, she was appointed as the associate director of human resources in November 2016, and had served as administrative clerk/business-administrative associate in academic personnel at WIU since January 2013. Lotz has also worked as the human resources coordinator (1995-2013) and as a human resources assistant (1994-95) at Bridgeway in Macomb.

"Cindy's experience will allow her to effectively lead the department and continue its commitment to service and support," said Matt Bierman, vice president for administrative services.

Western's 10-member human resources staff coordinates classification, compensation, diversity outreach, employee and labor relations and employment and examination for approximately 1,000 classified staff and directs the benefits and employee assistance program for all WIU employees, including some 1,800 faculty, staff and administrators.

As human resource director, Lotz will also serve as the University's representative to the State Civil Service System and State University Retirement System, and she will be responsible for ensuring University compliance with state and federal statutes, laws and regulations.

Lotz received her MBA and her bachelor's degree from WIU.
