Executive Director of Development Interviews

MACOMB, IL -- Interviews for the Western Illinois University executive director of development position will be held Monday, Jan. 8, Tuesday, Jan. 9 and Thursday, Jan. 11.

Candidates include Julie Baker, WIU College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) development director (Jan. 8); Paul Bubb, associate athletic director for development, Cal Poly Pomona (Jan. 9); and Lance Patrick, director of marketing and business development, Boeing Company (Jan. 11).

An open session will be held from 1:15-2:05 p.m. Jan. 8 in the University Union Lincoln Room (Baker); 10:20-11:10 a.m. Jan. 9 in the Union Board Room; and 10:20-11:10 a.m. Jan. 11 in the Union Board Room (Patrick).

Baker has served as the COFAC director of development since January 2016. Previously, worked in a variety of positions at the Elgin (IL) Symphony Orchestra, including development and special events manager and marketing director (2014-2015), development and marketing coordinator (2012-2014) and development coordinator (2011-2012). Baker has also served as the special project manager for the Elgin Choral Union (May-September 2011), as the operations director of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (2008-2011) and as the artist coordinator for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (2005-2007).

Baker earned her bachelor's degree in music business from WIU.

Bubb has served as the associate athletic director for development, Cal Poly Pomona, since 2016. Previously, he was the director of development at Cal Poly from 2015-2016. Bubb has worked as the associate athletic director for external affairs at Murray State University (2008-2014); as director of athletics (2005-2008), senior associate athletic director (2004) and assistant athletic director for development (2003) at Idaho State University; as interim director of athletics (2002-2003) and senior associate director of athletics (2001-2002) at the University of Maine; assistant director of the Bronco Athletic Association at Boise State University (1999-2001); and director of athletics (1995-1998), associate athletic director (1992-1995) and director of athletic development (1990-1992) at Cal State Northridge.

Bubb earned his master's degree in sport management from WIU and his bachelor's degree in history at Monmouth College.

Patrick has served as the director of marketing and business development of the Boeing Company's Next Generation Naval Air Dominance Programs since December 2015. Previously, he was the executive director/general manager of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115 from 2013-2015. Patrick has also served as a Defense Advance Research Projects Agency Joint Services' Chief Fellow (April-June 2013); as the director/chief of staff for Marine Aircraft Group 40 (2012-2013); and director of global operations, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command (2008-2011).

Patrick earned his master's degree in national security studies from American Military University, and a BGS (bachelors degree in general studies) from WIU.

The executive director of development at Western is responsible for leading a team of fundraising and advancement professionals and support personnel who are engaged in institutional advancement efforts. The executive director coordinates and executes a unified and balanced development strategy, and assists in the planning, execution and management of comprehensive campaigns for the University.
