WIU Women's Center to Present 'The Vagina Monologues' Feb. 9-11

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Women's Center will present Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" (TVM) as part of a V-Day campaign Friday-Sunday, Feb. 9-11 in the Multicultural Center.

V-Day is a global activist movement to stop violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Ensler's award winning play and other artistic works. In the past, the V-Day movement has raised over $120 million, educated people about violence against women, funded over 13,000 community-based-anti-violence programs and safe houses and crafted numerous campaigns.

The Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10 performances begin at 7 p.m. The Sunday, Feb. 11 performance will begin at 2 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday to allow guests an opportunity for refreshments and to watch a special performance. All performances will be held on the first floor of the Multicultural Center.

Tickets purchased in advance are $5 for students and $7 for non-students. Tickets at the door are $8 for students and $10 for non-students. Tickets can be purchased from the Women's Center in the Multicultural Center, suite 209, or from any V-Day team member.

All ticket proceeds benefit the Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency (WIRC-CAA).
