A group of WIU RPTA students recently attended the 2018 Illinois Park and Recreation Association Conference in Chicago with the help of a scholarship from the Illinois Parks and Recreation Foundation. More than half of the scholarship recipients were from WIU.

WIU Students Attend State Park and Recreation Conference

MACOMB, IL – Eight Western Illinois University Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA) students recently attended the 2018 Illinois Park and Recreation Association Conference in Chicago.

Their conference attendance was help by a $400 scholarship each was awarded by the Illinois Parks and Recreation Foundation to help with the cost of attendance and volunteering at the conference.

Student submitted letters to the foundation outlining why they were attending the conference and what they expected to gain from the experience. WIU RPTA faculty also wrote letters of recommendation for the students.
