WIU to Host Regional Mathematics Contest Feb. 24

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University will once again serve as a regional host for the Illinois Council Teachers of Mathematics high school math contest Saturday, Feb. 24 in Morgan Hall.

This year more than 200 students from eight high schools will come to campus to compete in written, oral and team exams. Topics include algebra, geometry and pre-calculus.

Several faculty from WIU's mathematics department will help with the event.

High schools participating in the event include:

Division 2A: Macomb, Alleman and Canton
Division 1A:  United, Pittsfield, Virginia, Hamilton and Illini West,

An awards ceremony will be held following the competition and the top scorers will move on to the state competition in May.
