Theatre and Dance to Present "Debate" Feb. 23-24

MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Department of Theatre and Dance will present "DEBATE," written by Ethan Coen, and directed by WIU Theatre and Dance Instructor Adam Lewis at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24 in the Simpkins Theatre. The performance is part of the Spring Studio Season.

Ethan Coen, of the Coen Brothers ("Fargo," "No Country for Old Men" and "The Big Lebowski") wrote the 2008 Off-Broadway play.

In "Debate," the cantankerous God of the Old Testament roundly abuses the God of the New and provides a commentary on what is good and what is bad. The play is rated R for strong language, violence and adult situations.

The cast includes:

• God Who Judges - Sean Pollock, a senior chemistry major from Dunlap, IL

• God Who Loves – Drake Pough, a Master of Fine Arts graduate student from Hayward, CA

• Angels - Kathy Hougland, a junior theatre major from Rock Island, IL, and Cameron Allen Delinski, a junior theatre major from East Peoria, IL                                                          
• Young Ma - Kevin Dillon, a freshman theatre major from LaGrange, IL

• Young Woman - Lexi Archambeau, a senior theatre major from Lake in the Hills, IL

• Maitre D' - Bryce Robertson, a senior theatre major from Auburn, IL

• Waiter - Alanis Lucio, a freshman art major from Chicago

• Lady Friend - Jessica Piekarski, a senior theatre major from Crystal Lake, IL

• Understudy - Delinski

Tickets are available at the door and general admission is $5. WIU students are free with their WIU ID.
