CITR Announces Faculty Award Winners

MACOMB, IL – The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR) hosted the Faculty Research and Creative Activities Awards Thursday April 12 in the University Union Capitol Room.

This event highlights the innovations in research and creative activities from across campus and disseminate/share the same across disciplines. Current full-time faculty were invited to submit proposals in two research categories and the top three proposals in each category were invited to present. The WIU faculty member with the top-rated proposal in each track were awarded a $500 line item expenditure to further their research.

This year's winners are:

• "Understanding Mental Toughness: From Investigation to Application in Youth Sport" – Assistant Professor E. Earlynn Lauer, WIU Department of Kinesiology


Professional Research and Creative Activities -


• "A Road to the Development of Ultra-Precise Sensors of the Future"- Professor Kishor T. Kapale, WIU Department of Physics

• "Evaluations of Interactive Learning Tools Among College Students in STEM Education:
Interaction of Student Grit and Gender" – Assistant Professor Eun Go, WIU Department of Broadcasting and Journalism, Professor Colin Harbke, WIU Department of Psychology, and Assistant Professor Il-Seop Shin, WIU School of Engineering

• "Timing Prediction Based System Reconfiguration on Many-Core Mixed-Criticality Platforms" – Assistant Professor Zheng Li, WIU School of Computer Sciences
