WIU Department of Communication Inducts New Members to Lambda Pi Eta

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Ten students were inducted into Western Illinois University's chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), the National Communication Association's student honor society, in a ceremony held April 30. 

The ceremonies, hosted by the WIU Department of Communication and the Pi Pi chapter of LPH honored Steffanie Valencia, a junior communication major from Waukegan, IL; communication graduate student Dalton Leebold, of Mendon, IL; Nicole Beer, a senior communication major from Omaha, NE; Jessika Runquist, a junior communication sciences and disorders major from Plymouth, IL; Kayla Harrington, a junior communication major from Byron, IL; Tucker Blum, a junior communication major from Elmwood, IL; Lisa Amlong, a senior communication major from Orion, IL; Olivia Day, a senior communication major from Quincy, IL; Jamie Delaney, a senior communication major from Davenport, IA; and Amber Murray, a senior communication major from Manhattan, IL.  

Communication majors and minors with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA (grade point average), a 3.25 GPA in communication (with a minimum of 12 hours in communication) who have also accumulated at least 60 hours are eligible for membership in the organization.

LPH, founded in 1985, is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association and an accredited member of the Associate of College Honor Societies. With more than 400 active chapters and more than 5,000 members nationwide, LPH recognizes, fosters and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while promoting interest in the communication discipline.
Advisors for the Pi Pi chapter are Assistant Professor of Communication Stacey Macchi and Communication Instructor Cindy Ridle.
