Polley Named Interim Vice President for Administrative Services

MACOMB, IL – William Polley, interim associate dean of the Western Illinois University College of Business and Technology, has been named interim vice president for administrative services. Polley, who will replace Matt Bierman, will serve in the interim role through Dec. 31. A national search will be held.

Polley, who is also associate professor of economics, has served as the interim associate dean of the College of Business and Technology since June 2014. He also serves as the director and program adviser for WIU's MBA program.

Polley has been a faculty member in the Department of Economics and Decision Sciences since 2005. He has also served as the director and program adviser for the graduate program in economics. Previously, he was an assistant professor at Bradley University. Polley received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.

"Dr. Polley has been a strong leader for many years within the College of Business and Technology," noted President Jack Thomas. "His business and management expertise will continue the division's commitment to excellence and will ensure the institution continues to move forward."

As interim vice president for administrative services, Polley will serve as the liaison on financial matters to various state and federal agencies, and to the many external constituencies the University serves. He will also oversee the direction and leadership of Business Services, Document and Publication Services, Facilities Management, Human Resources, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute and Media Resource Center, Public Safety, Purchasing and Risk Management and Emergency Preparedness. Polley will also oversee the insurance and state-mandated ethics programs, provide University coordination with legal counsel and serve as the administrative liaison to the Council of Administrative Personnel and the Civil Service Employees Council.
