"A Taste of Archives" Aug. 25 to Commemorate WIU Library's 40th Anniversary

MACOMB, IL – As part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Leslie F. Malpass Library, this year's "A Taste of Archives" event, Saturday, Aug. 25, will feature a 1970s themed, five-course dinner.

The event begins with cocktails at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The event will feature WIU Professor Emeritus John Hallwas, presenting about the early years of the library and its development. Dean of University Libraries Michael Lorenzen will also share his perspective and information about the "lighter" side of the library during the past 40 years.

Reservations, due by Friday, Aug. 17, are $50 per person. Main course menu options include grilled beef tenderloin with Roma tomatoes, basil and parmesan crisp with a balsamic reduction; rosemary chicken, lightly breaded and sautéed with mushrooms in a rosemary cream sauce; or ratatouille quiche with sautéed zucchini, eggplant, tomato, onion, garlic and herbs in a polenta crust. Sloe gin fizz will be the signature drink, served with the main course, and a cash bar will be available.
