WIU Czech Centenary Music Festival Continues Oct. 28

MACOMB, IL – The second portion of the Western Illinois University Czech Centenary Music Festival will be a lecture delivered by Music Professor Brian Locke at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication Recital Hall.

The lecture, titled "Czech Music and Czech Independence," is part of a festival to highlight several dates of historical importance in the Czech year. Oct. 28 is the country's date of independence.

The lecture is open free to the public.

Other performances planned as part of the festival include the Tuesday, Nov. 13 "An Homage to the Vocalists of Czech Popular Song" at 2 p.m. in the COFAC Recital Hall; a Thursday, Nov. 15 Czech vocal recital by WIU alumna Therese Pircon at 7:30 p.m. in the COFAC Recital Hall; and the Wednesday, Dec. 5 "An Evening of Czech Chamber Music" at 7:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, at 400 E. Carroll St., in Macomb. The Nov. 13 and Dec. 5 events will feature WIU School of Music faculty and staff.

The Pircon recital is supported by the Performing Arts Society.
