MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will host a leadership conference and college fair for minority students at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16. The event, sponsored by the Quad City Minority Partnership (QCMP), a consortium of local colleges and other education professionals, will welcome 200 minority students from local high schools to explore opportunities and develop leadership skills.

Representatives from public, private, four-year, and community colleges will be present, as well as from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Students will also have the opportunity to learn about financial aid and scholarships and exposure to various leadership workshops. The conference rotates to various educational institutions, and this is WIU-QC's second time hosting.

"The mission of QCMP is to empower Quad City youth through action and achievement," said Curtis Williams, director of Student Services at WIU-QC. "We're proud to be hosting the event and excited to welcome these young people to our campus."
