Holiday Arrangements by WIU Faculty Member to be Performed Across the Country

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Associate Professor of Music John Mindeman will have several of his holiday arrangements performed throughout the country this year.

The Quincy (IL) Symphony Orchestra will perform commissioned arrangements of "Ding Dong Merrily/Good King Wenceslas" and "O Holy Night" at its Snowman Holiday Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 in the Morrison Theater at the corner of 14th and Maine streets.

These same two pieces will then be performed by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra in Elgin, IL, on its Sounds of the Season holiday concerts Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 8-9 at the Hemmens Cultural Center.

The New York Philharmonic Brass will play two of Mindeman's arrangements, "Joy!" and "March, opus 99," on its holiday concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at David Geffen Hall. The Charleston Symphony Orchestra Brass will also perform one of Mindeman's arrangements at its holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Gaillard Center.

Mindeman has also been commissioned to compose a new work for trombone and piano, which will be premiered at the International Trombone Festival in Indiana in Summer 2019.

He has performed with major orchestras and chamber music ensembles in Chicago, and throughout the region.
