#GivingTuesday Nov. 27

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - First there was Black Friday; then there was Cyber Monday; and now there is a day to give back … #GivingTuesday. Help Western kick off the holiday giving season and inspire Leathernecks everywhere to come together in generosity as we participate in #GivingTuesday on Nov. 27.

#GivingTuesday is a global campaign to encourage personal philanthropy, showcase the impact of collective giving and is a perfect time to make a year-end annual gift to any scholarship or area of Western.

"Giving Tuesday has become a year-end tradition of giving and generosity on both our Macomb and WIU-Quad Cities campuses," said WIU Director of Annual Giving Tim Hallinan '95. "Last year, our #LeathernecksGive advocates drove the effort online through social media sharing, and many issued their own challenge gifts. At the end of the day, 268 members of the Leatherneck community came together to support the causes they care about at Western, raising $28,555 for academic programs, scholarships and athletics."

Visit Western's official #GivingTuesday campaign page at bit.ly/WesternGT2018 to make a secure online gift, view the donor wall and become a #LeathernecksGive advocate to help promote the effort online and inspire additional gifts.

Members of the Leatherneck family are also encouraged to spread the word about #GivingTuesday. Share how you're participating by using the hashtags #GivingTuesday, #LeathernecksGive and #WIU on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
