VPAS Interviews Scheduled

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Two candidates for the Western Illinois University vice president of administrative services (VPAS) position will be on WIU's campuses for interviews Monday-Tuesday, March 18-19 and Wednesday-Thursday, March 20-21.

Bill Polley, interim vice president of administrative services, will interview March 18-19. Open sessions will be held from 2-2:50 p.m. March 18 in the University Union Lincoln Room on the Macomb campus, and from 11-11:50 a.m. March 19 in Riverfront Hall 111 on the WIU-Quad Cities campus.

Alan Robertson, a consultant for the Division of Business and Finance, Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA and former senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer at Morehouse College, will interview March 20-21. Open sessions will be held from 2-2:50 p.m. March 20 in the University Union Capitol Rooms on the Macomb campus, and from 11-11:50 a.m. March 21 in Riverfront Hall 103/104 on the WIU-Quad Cities campus.

Polley has served as the interim VPAS since May 2018. Previously, he had served as the interim associate dean of the WIU College of Business and Technology since June 204. He is also associate professor of economics and serves as the director and program adviser for WIU's MBA program. Polley has been a faculty member in the Department of Economics and Decision Sciences since 2005. He has also served as the director and program adviser for the graduate program in economics. Previously, he was an assistant professor at Bradley University.

Polley received his Ph.D. and master's degrees in economics (1999, 1997) from the University of Iowa and his bachelor's degree in economics and mathematics (1994) from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN.

Robertson has served as a consultant at Morehouse College since November 2018. Previously, he was the senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer at Morehouse from 2013-2018. Robertson has served as the vice president of finance and administration for the Office of Finance at Administration at Prairie State College, Chicago Heights (2010-2013), as vice chancellor of administration and finance for the Division of Administration and Finance at North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC (2008-2010), as the interim vice president for Administration and Financial Affairs, Chicago State University (1998-2008) and as the executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer for Urban Ministries, Inc. Calumet City (1995-1998). Robertson has also held administrative positions in the banking industry.

Robertson earned his Ed.D. in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania (2007), his MBA in finance and marketing from Northwestern University (1983) and his bachelor's degree in accounting from DePaul University (1980).

The vice president for administrative services serves as the liaison on financial matters to various state and federal agencies, and to the many external constituencies the University serves. The VPAS also oversees the direction and leadership of Business Services, Document and Publication Services, Facilities Management, Human Resources, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute and Media Resource Center, Public Safety, Purchasing and Risk Management and Emergency Preparedness. The VPAS oversees the insurance and state-mandated ethics programs, provide University coordination with legal counsel and serves as the administrative liaison to the Council of Administrative Personnel and the Civil Service Employees Council.
