Outdoor Skills Seminar March 30 at Horn Field Campus

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University students in The Horn Environmental Learning Project will host an Outdoor Skills Seminar from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Horn Field Campus, 985 China Rd.

The student presenters are alumni of the Environmental Conservation, Outdoor Education Expedition (ECOEE) program in the WIU Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration. Students will share skills learned on their expedition.
 
The family-friendly event is open free to the public.
 
The event will include:
 
• Fire building
 
• Pine tea brewing
 
• 'Leave No Trace' outdoor ethics training
 
• Tarp shelter and campsite selection
 
• Horn Field history interpretive walk with Professor Emeritus Mike McGowan
 
A light lunch will be provided and donations will be accepted to cover expenses. Participants should bring their own water bottle.
