MACOMB, IL – The Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Center (IL PTAC) at Western Illinois University will co-sponsor an online informational workshop from 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday, April 16 to help small businesses who are eligible to participate in the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Program.

The decision by PTAC to host the outreach program is an effort to help the United States Department of Defense promote and educate local businesses about the HUBZone program. The significance of this program will provide information on how eligible businesses can participate in federal contracting goals.

The conference will exemplify university, industry, agency and community collaboration. The PTAC at WIU is collaborating with Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and Govology to offer a virtual platform where small businesses throughout the U.S. will be able to participate by virtually viewing and asking questions to HUBZone subject matter experts.

The U.S. Small Business Administration will explain eligibility criteria and the process for obtaining HUBZone certification. The expert panel will include contracting officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Air Force Installation Command and Scott Air Force Base's 375th Contracting Squadron along with a certified HUBZone business.
