Two WIU Art Alumni Win Top Prizes in National Juried Art Exhibition

MACOMB, IL -- Two recent Western Illinois University graduates recently placed first and second in the Galex 53: National Juried Exhibition.
Roberto Torres and Shannon Lundeen, both of Macomb, were two of 74 artists from 23 states who were chosen for the exhibition. Both artists received their bachelor's degrees in art in 2018.
Torres received first place and the Blick Purchase Award for his collagraph "Tejana." Lundeen received second place and the Lonnie Eugene Steward Award of Excellence for her serigraph "Randi."
This is the 52nd year for the Galex 53: National Juried Exhibition in Galesburg, IL. The entire exhibit will be on display at the Galesburg Civic Arts Center through Saturday, April 6.
The juror for this year's exhibit was Janis Mars Wunderlich, a contemporary ceramic artist and assistant professor at Monmouth College, where she teaches ceramics, design and art history.
