MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Department of Political Science Office Manager Gail Ault has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March 2019.

Ault began working at WIU in June 2001 as a secretary III in the mathematics department. In June 2002, she audited up to secretary IV, and in July 2011, she was promoted to office manager in social work. She was named to her current position in May 2012.

Ault's nominator said her impacts on the department, professors and students are "innumerable and immeasurable."

"We see Gail working above and beyond so often that we forget she is doing the extra little things," said her nominator. "She makes the faculty and students feel special and welcome, often listening to students' concerns and offering a listening ear so that they feel they can lean on her. She is a cheerleader for the department, always has a 'can-do' attitude and often talks about how lucky we are to work in such a tight-knit scholarly and personal community."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
