Clyde J. Faries Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Funeral services for Western Illinois University Department of Communication Chair Emeritus Clyde J. Faries will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 31 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, MO. A visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at the C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, MO.
He passed away Tuesday, March 26 at his home in Terre du Lac, MO.
Faries was hired at WIU in September 1966 and retired in July 1988. In addition to his time at WIU, he served terms as president of the Georgia Speech Association, the Illinois Speech and Theatre Association and the Missouri Folklore Society. From 1990-1994, Faries taught at the National University of Defense Technology in Changsha, Hunan, China.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children Dixie, Dee, David and Doug; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Myracle.
