MACOMB, IL – Calling all Leathernecks! Alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members should mark their calendars for Western Illinois University's Homecoming 2019, Friday, Sept. 27-Saturday, Oct. 5.

Current students Rachel Greene, a freshman communication major, and Daria Levchenko, a freshman Law Enforcement and Justice Administration major at Western, will serve as co-directors of the University Union Board Homecoming Committee. This year's event is themed "Rocky on Broadway: The Leathernecks are a Tough Act to Follow."

"We are so excited about this year's theme as it can incorporate a variety of fun musicals and shows. We are anxious to see all the creativity that will be sparked by our peers. Take a seat, cue the lights and enjoy the show," said Levchenko.

"We cannot wait to see the unique ways that Homecoming participants take on the role of Broadway stars. Our hope is that this theme will allow students to think outside the box, and most importantly, have fun," added Greene.

Homecoming activities begin Friday, Sept. 27 with Paint the Paws, which prepares Western Avenue and University Drive for Homecoming 2019, with volunteers painting large gold paws on each street on a path leading to Hanson Field. This event is sponsored by the WIU Alumni Association.
