MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Office of Financial Aid is reminding students that any correspondence, phone call, email or social media message/ad they may receive regarding "student loan forgiveness" is part of a phishing scam from Pantheon Planning and the information and services provided are not legitimate.

According to Financial Aid Director Terri Hare, the information presented by Pantheon is not factual, and that no university or college gives approval for full federal student loan forgiveness.

Questions about federal loan repayment should be directed to StudentAid.gov or the student's loan provider. WIU students can also email the WIU Financial Aid Office at financial-aid@wiu.edu or call (309) 298-2446.
