MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University-Quad Cities Administrative Aide Nikki Friedrichsen has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for April 2019.

Friedrichsen began working at WIU in September 2016 as an office support specialist. She was promoted to her current position in November 2017.

Friedrichsen's nominator said she is always very positive in her roles at the University.

"She is always promoting the good things about Western, whether she is at her son's wrestling match or at the WIU-QC-sponsored Bix 7 event," her nominator said. "She even went above and beyond by leaving her third floor office to assist a student in changing a tire in the extremely cold weather."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
