Associate Provost, Director of School of Graduate Studies Interview Set

MACOMB, IL – Mark Mossman, interim associate provost and director of the WIU School of Graduate Studies, will interview Friday, Sept. 13 for the permanent position. Mossman has served as interim associate provost since August 2018.

An open session will be held from 10-11 a.m. in the University Union Capital Room (video connection to WIU-QC Riverfront Hall room 226).

As interim associate provost and director of Graduate Studies, Mossman manages undergraduate and graduate academic programs and serves as the institution's liaison to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) for issues pertaining to the assessment of student learning. Mossman also
oversees WIU's First Year Experience (FYE) program.

Mossman came to WIU as an assistant professor of English in 2001 and was promoted to associate professor in 2005 and professor in 2010. Mossman also served as the director of Graduate Studies in English, and was named chair of the English and Journalism department in 2010. Mossman has served as co-coordinator of WIU's Dual Enrollment Program and in 2016 developed a freshman student Living and Learning Community focused on the liberal arts at Western.

Prior to coming to WIU, Mossman was an assistant professor of English at Bethany College in West Virginia.

Mossman received his bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and his PhD in English from Saint Louis University.
