Chudnovskaya to Deliver Wayne N. Thompson Professor Lecture

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Communication will host its 27th annual Wayne N. Thompson Professor Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 in the University Union Sandburg Theatre in Macomb, and at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 in Room 2118 on the Quad Cities campus.

The lecture, "Experiences of Expatriates in the U.S.: Per Aspera ad Astra?" will be delivered by WIU Assistant Professor of Communication Elena Chudnovskaya. The lectures are open free to the public.
Chudnovskaya received her bachelor's degree as Linguist, Translator of English and German Languages from Kubanskiy State University, Russia; her master's degree in communication studies and a master's in business administration from Ball State University and her doctoral degree in communication from the University of Miami.

She teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in organizational communication, health communication, intercultural communication and qualitative research methods.

In addition to her teaching, Chudnovskaya's research has been published in a variety of communication journals, and she has presented her work at numerous conferences.

The Wayne N. Thompson Lecture is named to honor WIU alumnus Wayne Thompson, who was a nationally-recognized professor of speech communication, who earned his undergraduate degree at WIU. An endowment in his name helps sponsor a number of department programs to enhance learning and scholarship in the field of communication, including this lecture, and the annual Thompson Lecture, which is presented by a prominent scholar in the field.
