Undergraduate Application Fee Waiver Week at WIU

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – To celebrate National Transfer Student Week (as well as our high school seniors who are beginning the college application process), Western Illinois University is waiving the $30 application fee for prospective domestic undergraduate students who apply to WIU ( Graduating high school seniors and transfer students who apply for admission to Western for the Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters will have the application fee waived during a special week Saturday, Oct. 19 through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27.

WIU has also launched several new scholarship incentives, including an Alumni Legacy Scholarship for the children and grandchildren of WIU graduates and a Leatherneck Visitors Scholarship for incoming freshmen and transfers who attend an Admissions event on campus, and has enhanced the Western Commitment (WC) Scholarship program for incoming freshmen and transfers.

In addition to the application fee waiver and scholarship initiatives, Western has revised its admissions criteria for students applying to Western for Fall 2020. Students with a high school diploma and a 3.3 or higher high school grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) will be automatically admitted to WIU. Western is one of just two public institutions in the state that are test-optional in regard to college admissions. Students with a GPA less than 3.3, but at least 2.0, will be requested to submit SAT/ACT scores for admissions consideration.
