Western Trombone Festival Sunday at WIU

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University School of Music will present the Western Trombone Festival Sunday, Oct. 20, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

The Western Trombone Festival is an all-day event, facilitated by WIU Associate Professor John Mindeman, and will feature masterclasses, rehearsals and performances with WIU Faculty, the Festival Trombone Choir, guests Andrés León Rodriguez and the quartet Chicago Thunder Chops, with members Charles Dieterle, Ben Smelser, Jonathan Kraft and Sean Yeung.

Participant registration is $20 and the event begins at 9am. For more information, contact John Mindeman at js-mindeman@wiu.edu. All events are free to WIU students, faculty and staff.

The 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. performances are open free to the public, and the 3:30 p.m. Guest Artist Recital will be live-streamed on the School of Music's YouTube channel and Facebook Live.
