Biology Day at WIU Nov. 15

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Biological Sciences will host its 38th annual Biology Day Friday, Nov. 15 on the second and third floors of Waggoner Hall.

The event, planned for area high school biology students, will include seminars, hands-on activities, research information and introductions to departmental faculty and graduate students. The high school students will also have the opportunity to sit in on a lecture nad participate in a Hallway Competition, answering questions related to the research posters that will be on display throughout the department.

First, second and third place medals are awarded for this part of the day.  The teachers of the winners are also given a prize to use in their classrooms. 

Students will also participate in a Biology Bowl; the winners of which advance to a final competition at 1 p.m. in Waggoner Hall, room 003. First, second and third place winners are awarded a trophy and their teachers are awarded prizes to use in their classroom.
