MACOMB, IL – A recent installation in the Western Illinois University School of Music will provide additional practice space for the more than 200 music majors, and will also help the school with its accreditation process.

A Wenger Practice Room is being installed in Sallee Hall, room 221. The room is a modular, sound-isolation music practice room that is not only soundproof, but also allows students to change the acoustics to hear how their performance sounds in different spaces.

"Musicians spend countless hours in practice rooms pursuing technical and artistic excellence, and this is a significant step in expanding and improving our practice facilities to support our talented students," said WIU School of Music Interim Director Jeff Brown.

The Wenger room is the eighth installed at WIU, and the School of Music has a goal of installing a total of 19 to meet accreditation standards.

The space can be used for individual or group music practice and for teaching studios.
