Note to Returning Students: Move-In Allowed Beginning 2 p.m. Friday, Weekend Hours

MACOMB, IL -- The Spring 2020 semester at Western Illinois University kicks off at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13. Because of the forecasted winter weather anticipated for Friday evening through Sunday, University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) will allow students to move in after 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. Move in was originally set to begin at noon Saturday.

Returning students keeping their same room assignments just need to log-in to STARS using any campus computer, verify information and select "Residence Hall Check-in" from the drop down to electronically check back in to the halls. New students and returning students with new room assignments must check in at their respective residence hall's information desk.

There will be no dining centers open Friday. Corbin-Olson (C/O) Dining Center will be open for brunch and dinner Saturday, Jan. 11 and regular dining center hours resume Sunday, Jan. 13 for all campus dining facilities.

The University Bookstore will be open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and the Union Service Center will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Burger King will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday. The Union will resume its regular operating hours Monday, Jan. 13.

Students who choose to return to Macomb over the weekend should be mindful of the forecast. Winter driving conditions in Illinois can be found at gettingaroundillinois.com. Current watches, warnings and forecasts can be found at weather.gov. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), sleet and snow, along with high winds, are expected for the Macomb area beginning later Friday evening/Saturday morning through Saturday evening.
