Thirteen WIU RAs Attend Iowa Conference

MACOMB, IL – Thirteen Western Illinois University resident assistants (RA) traveled with the WIU Resident Assistant Council (RAC) to the 30th annual RA Conference Jan. 24-26 at the University of Northern Iowa.

The RAs chosen to represent WIU at the conference include Herb Sommer, a senior hospitality management major from Oak Forest, IL; Megan Call, a sophomore forensic psychology major from Polo, IL; Amani Tucker, a junior psychology major from New Lenox, IL; Lourdes Ruiz, a senior psychology and liberal arts and sciences double major from Round Lake Beach, IL; Josh Sampson, a junior computer science major from Somonauk, IL; Brooke Barnes, a sophomore pre-nursing major from Plainfield, IL; Mollie Rabe, a senior speech pathology and audiology major from Braidwood, IL; Morgan Knutsen, a senior biology major from Machesney Park, IL; Paige Bradshaw, a senior biology major from Fieldon, IL; Curtis Pointer, a sophomore psychology major from University Park, IL; Jamel Adams, a junior communication major from Zion, IL; Tea Wheat, a senior elementary education major from Brookfield, IL; and Kat Davis, a senior elementary education major from Aurora, IL.

Of those 13 RAs, three participated in the conference by either creating a bulletin board or presenting a program during the conference.

RAs who participated in bulletin board or program presentation at the conference include:

• Tucker - participated in the bulletin board competition.

• Davis - participated in the bulletin board competition and won best bulletin board for her category with "Fix Your Growth."

• Barnes - presented a program during the conference and placed in the top five programs with her "Growing with Others " program.

"We would like to congratulate these three individuals for being chosen to represent WIU with their bulletin boards and program," said Complex Director Erica Hoffman, advisor for the WIU RAC. "This was a wonderful professional development opportunity and we are very proud of all of the RAs who attended as they learned a lot and did a great job representing Western Illinois."
