Update: WIU Women in Business Conference Canceled

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Women in Business organization will host its first one-day Midwest Women in Business Conference Saturday, March 21 in the University Union.

This conference is open to the public, with doors opening at 8 a.m.. The conference runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

This year's conference will support women in the work place and diversity among women. The conference's mission is to promote equality among females and bridge the gap to meet women's need and achieve success no matter the starting point.

The keynote speaker of the conference is Illinois Senator Jil Tracy, with other breakout session speakers being:

• Becky Paulsen: WIU's director of development for corporate relations.

•Denise Tallcott: A sales executive for the Staradio Corporation, as well as the president of Advocacy, a network for children.

•Becky Doyle: The first woman director of agriculture for Illinois.

•Monique Bennett: CEO of multiple businesses, a salon owner, motivational speaker and author of "Change Your Thinking Change Your Outcome."

• Shelby Crow: University of Illinois Extension director, overseeing Adams, Brown, Hancock, Pike and Schuyler counties.

•Rocio Ayard Ochoa: Serves as the WIU Multicultural Center director.

• Haley Freenan: Credit Analyst for MidAmerica National Bank.

•Rumasia Rahman Khawaja: Generation Indian American, creator of "Real Talk with Ru," which is a podcast on "igniting personal and professional flames."

The cost of attending this conference is $25. The dress code for this event is business casual and lunch will be provided for attendees. There will also be a t-shirt and goodie bag given to the first 100 attendees.

This event is sponsored by Citizens Bank, Maurice's, Ferrall Gas, Make Fit Happen, McAlister's, Wesley Village Retirement Center, MidAmerica National Bank, the WIU Ag Mech Show and Grand Prairie.
