MACOMB, IL -- The faculty and staff of the Western Illinois University Libraries are continuing to help students, faculty and staff obtain the materials they need for courses and research.

Recognizing the challenges to learning caused by COVID-19, numerous publishers have offered WIU Libraries free or expanded online access to academic content well beyond what the Libraries are generally able to purchase. The Library is also reaching out to academic content providers in order to provide as many online resources as possible to the WIU community during this disruption of the normal academic routine.

"I am really happy with the generosity of the companies who are now providing us with access to full-text scholarly content," said Jeff Matlak, coordinator of Collection Development.

The link for the resource page is http://wiu.libguides.com/COVID19

Resources are listed alphabetically and include what academic subjects they cover. More complete descriptions are available from the "About" link. Links to this new content can also be found on the Libraries' database list at wiu.edu/libraries/databases/. These new resources on this page are marked with the [+EXTRA] icon and highlighted in yellow.

"This is tremendous bonus access for our students and faculty who are limited to online use right now," said Interim Dean of Libraries Jeanne Stierman. "The Library has provided good content for years online, but we're delighted to expand what's available during this extraordinary situation. Librarians are also online from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. to help with research and answer questions."

Every effort has been made to make sure the links work properly from off campus and can be used by the WIU community without needing extra login information. As the Library continues to receive offers of access, this list will be frequently updated, so check back to look for new resources.

Those having difficulty gaining access to the resources can ask a reference librarian at wiu.edu/libraries/help/.
