MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University alumnus Saym Basheer, 2003 and 2005 WIU graduate with bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science, who is a software development manager and "Certified Scrum Master," will visit WIU's software engineering virtual classroom Friday, April 10 to discuss Agile Software Development, leading a team as Scrum Master, tools for success and industry insight and perspective.

All WIU computer science students are invited to attend the Scrum Master session from 11-11:50 a.m., via WIU video conference. Following the session, there will be an additional Talk Back Session for students wanting more information.

Software Engineering Professor Russell Glaue, who is also an Enterprise Technology Engineer for the Center for the Application of Information Technologies (CAIT) at WIU, said he is excited to have Basheer visiting the students virtually.

"I value giving the students perspective on the industry, leading advances in technology and their career direction," said Glaue. "We had to cancel Saym's first planned on-campus visit March 20, in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic measures moving classes online. But Saym and I were able to reschedule for this virtual talk on April 10. I know he is excited to talk with the students. We will provide this wonderful opportunity to our WIU computer science students despite the current world events."
