MACOMB, IL – Just in time for summer cookouts, Leatherneck Country Meats: The Purple and Gold Standard of Western Illinois is offering brats and pulled pork for sale.

The Western Illinois University organization is selling five brats for $5 and 10-pound packages of pulled pork for $65. All of the pork was raised on the University Farm.

Leatherneck Country Meats is a student-run organization that offers pork sales to the public.

The pork can be picked up at Knoblauch Hall on the WIU campus. To order, email WIU School of Agriculture Director Andy Baker at AJ-Baker@wiu.edu.

The next LCM sale will be later this fall and will include pork from Berkshire hogs, raised outdoors on the University Farm.

LCM is run through the University Farm and uses animals raised there as part of the University's academic offerings, including classes on swine science and as part of WIU's nationally-successful Livestock Judging Team. Money raised through the program benefits the School of Agriculture.

Agriculture students are employed at the farm to handle all parts of animal care, from feeding to farrowing.
